Terms of Service
Last updated: August 26, 2026
1. Acceptance of Terms
By downloading or using PodcastCodex ("the App"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the App.
2. Description of Service
PodcastCodex is an iOS podcast player built for serialized narrative shows, including audio dramas, serialized fiction, and narrative history. The App plays podcasts from public RSS feeds and provides a codex: encyclopedia entries for characters, places, and terms.
- Codex entries are anchored to specific moments in episodes and are gated to your current playback position, so you never see a spoiler before you have heard it.
- The App also provides recaps to help you return to long series.
- Codex data is produced by server side analysis operated by ForgeApps.
3. Beta Status
The App is currently distributed through Apple TestFlight as a beta release. Features may change, break, or disappear between builds without notice. Your use of TestFlight is also subject to Apple's TestFlight terms and conditions.
4. Third-Party Content
All podcast audio and feeds belong to their respective publishers and creators. PodcastCodex hosts no audio.
- Public content is fetched from public RSS feeds and public directory search APIs.
- Paywalled private feeds are supported only via a URL that you provide, and the App acts solely as a player for those feeds.
5. Monetization
The beta is free to use. Paid features, such as per-show unlocks, may be introduced later. Any paid features will be disclosed in the App before purchase, and purchases will be processed through Apple's App Store and subject to its terms and refund policies.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the App, including by attempting to disrupt or overload our servers, circumventing playback position gating or access controls, using the App to infringe the rights of podcast publishers, or reselling or redistributing codex data provided by the service.
7. Disclaimer of Warranties
The App is provided "as is" without any warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted. Codex entries are produced with AI-assisted analysis and may contain errors, omissions, or spoilers beyond your current listening progress.
8. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ForgeApps shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of your use or inability to use the App.
9. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms of Service at any time. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the new terms.
